COVERT BUILDING ENTRY COURSE
COURSE OBJECTIVE: Introduce course participants to complex skills that leverage the ability to enter a building, carry out the entry objective, and then depart undetected.
COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course is designed for the field operator or technical specialist tasked with carrying out a covert entry in support of an intelligence gathering mission or service of a covert search warrant.
Covert building entries are complex undertakings requiring pre-entry study of the target location, evaluation of security chain vulnerabilities, then determining the most expeditious means of successfully entering, carrying out the entry objective(s), and departing without leaving evidence of your entry. The entry may be complicated by the presence of an intrusion detection system of some sort.
The Covert Building Entry Course provides solutions and options to address all of the above issues including:
• Target assessment and evaluation
• Lock picking techniques
• Lock systems, their vulnerabilities and bypassing
• Technical bypass techniques for various access control mechanisms
• Use of specialized tools allowing the defeat of common commercial lock hardware
• Use of key gauges
• Code cutting of keys
• Lock decoding
• Alarm system vulnerabilities and bypass techniquesThe Covert Building Entry Course combines classroom instruction with hands on experience and field training exercises. Students make entries in to residences and commercial buildings to reinforce the various skills taught. This course is not configured around an 8-hour per day format and the schedule may be adjusted to facilitate entries during the hours of darkness.
Each student will receive a syllabus which highlights the information presented in the training, a CD containing a variety of articles and reference material regarding Covert Building Entries, and an enhanced pick tool kit.
All tools and equipment needed during the course are provided.
Class size is limited to 14 students.

Field-expedient lock repairs
Introduction to alarm systems – vulnerabilities and bypassDay three will conclude with the first field exercise - entry into a hotel room.
Day Four
The 4th day of training will be committed to field training exercises making both residential and commercial entries. Students will be provided with a target location, mission objective, and background information regarding the target. They will then conduct surveillance on the target, gather information regarding the physical nature of the target, the lock systems, and vulnerabilities in security. Then they will formulate an entry strategy. The entry plan will be put into action with the students conducting the entry. Upon completion of the entry a debriefing will be conducted and learning points examined. This process will be repeated throughout the day.
Day Five
The 5th day will begin with a discussion of learning points gleaned from day 4. Any identified deficiencies will be readdressed to reinforce those skill sets. Students will then be tasked with additional increasingly difficult entries with a culmination exercise following lunch.
The 5th day will conclude with a presentation of completion certificates.
